Let’s Never Forget Why This is a Holiday

Let’s Never Forget Why This is a Holiday

It’s just before dawn, the sun is barely showing its face through the trees surrounding my home and it’s Monday morning -- a time that often draws a feeling of gloom upon many people who hate their jobs.  I am blessed not to have that experience any longer, but for those who normally do -- today is different.  It’s a holiday, it’s Memorial Day and for many of us it is the official beginning of Summer (the beloved season) even though the calendar insists it doesn’t start until late June.  So for the millions who normally drag themselves out to a job they may despise, today is a blessing, a great sigh of relief that this week they get to escape that, if only for a day.  An adult often feels like a kid on Christmas. But let’s not forget why today is a holiday.  Let us remember the...

Alive Again!

Alive Again!

So wonderful to feel so good and alive again!  I have MS, and it sure kicked me to the curb for the Winter.  I was just plain OUT and down for the count.  When you are so fatigued you can barely function, it isn’t a highly fulfilling life.  Hard to accomplish much when you are asleep – except to gain weight! I did finally learn how to knit socks, and for my fine-motor movement-impaired brain, that was a greater accomplishment that becoming a lawyer.  Still pleased with that and now addicted to knitting.  Thank you to the University of YouTube and the folks at KnitPicks.com for all the great instructional videos.  While alone, unable to do much with MS fatigue, it helped me retain some sanity – and now I have a hobby I love.  Have you ever worn homemade socks – they are heaven! Most of you probably...

Forget the Gurus – Just Get Online Baby Boomers

Forget the Gurus – Just Get Online Baby Boomers

They’re out there, hiding behind every web search -- you know who I mean….the gurus, with $997 courses in hand, promising to finally reveal THE secret that will make you a millionaire on the ‘Net in 6 months or less.  I’m not knocking education, but there comes a time when you just have to jump into the pool or pick up your towel and go home.  Baby Boomers have an opportunity to make their Swan Song more fun, engaging and profitable than any previous retiring generation. At a time when only a human ostrich could maintain that the economy will soon turn around and Boomers will not have to work until they are past 70, Internet Marketing holds the keys to a goldmine of opportunity never before available to the older contingent of our population.  Help is out there -- and you don’t have to buy every course, DVD...

Lost (and Found) My Dog Yesterday – It’s Still a Wonderful World

Lost (and Found) My Dog Yesterday – It’s Still a Wonderful World

Yesterday, I spent seven hours mostly in tears after my beloved Lhasa Apso disappeared.  I thought she was gone forever, killed on a roadside or, worse, taken by a coyote.   Instead,  I learned that miracles still happen and that I live amidst wonderful people, who will go the extra mile to be an angel to a stranger, turning their grief into joy.  In our crazy and increasingly isolated world, it’s exhilarating to discover that I remain surrounded by true compassion and generosity. It’s far too easy to fall prey to cynicism and distrust.    As painful as it was, I’m privileged to have experienced again the awesome effects  of an act of human kindness.  May I remember to seek opportunities to do the same for others. //

What’s Your 2010 Strategy? Using Your Strengths to Become a Better Marketer

In thinking about a 2010 strategy and re-reading my post about analyzing the strengths of your opportunities, I realized that is only half the picture. You are your best asset for growing in your marketing. Much is made of personal development in marketing, but take it a step further. Take a day and make it a day just for you and your thoughts. Turn off the computer, skip the emails, forget the webinars. Be alone with a pen and paper and think. No distractions – just you and your creative mind. It might seem uncomfortable at first, but you mind will slowly flower your own creative genius. You don’t need to go anywhere special, just make sure you are alone and nothing interrupts you – your mind, in silence, will speak to you. And this, in turn, will give you a clear vision and new ideas that you can...

Haiti – STOP Whatever You Are Doing and Help RIGHT NOW!

Haiti – STOP Whatever You Are Doing and Help RIGHT NOW!

It is Monday morning.  This Blog is my homebase for my work as an Internet Marketer.  It is not a political, social, religious, or current events Blog.  I earn my living, as we all do, with the tools of my trade. The Blog helps me to get information around the world.  Well, I’m not just an Internet Marketer, I am a human being, and the catastrophe in Haiti tugs at my heart and compells me to do anything and everything I can to help the victims of that massive earthquake.  So, why not dump business for a while and put what is most important out there to those I reach?  Isn’t that my true duty as a person and as a member of the Christian religion?  (Yes, I am a Catholic Christian -- so for me nothing should be more important.) I didn’t create this video -- but I’m...

Stop Wasting Twitter Real Estate!

January 23, 2010
By Mary Anne

Did you know, that every time you post to Twitter through the web, or TweetDeck or Hootsuite, you are giving up FREE marketing space – in other words free Twitter real estate, which is always at a premium because with 140 characters, you can’t say much. But those little notes underneath that say “sent from __________” are CLICKABLE links. Go ahead, try it. Click underneath any tweet where it says where it was sent from and voila! – you are at their page. But a new FREE (love those words) Twitter app – allows you to send it from yourself and link back to yourself with every tweet you make. What a bonanza for marketers. After you install the software from MarketMeTweet, you can start sending tweets that link people back to whatever home page you want. Go ahead, go to My Twitter Page and click on my name...
